Lumberjacks Drop Two Road Mon-Dak Games

The Lumberjack Volleyball team dropped a pair of Mon-Dak games on the road Tuesday and Wednesday night. Both North Dakota State College of Science and Lake Region State College picked up wins over the Jacks 3-0.

3-0 Loss NDSCS

The Wildcats were able to build a small lead early in set one. As the set reached the halfway point the Wildcats led 13-8. The Lumberjacks would battle but were unable to get the deficit back under five. The Wildcats would grow their lead late and go on to win the set 25-14.

An 8-2 start for the Wildcats saw them take control of the set early on. A quick 3-0 run minutes later gave NDSCS a 12-4 lead and DCB would call their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout the Jacks struck first putting an end to the run. At this point, however, the Wildcats still had too much momentum as they would finish the set on a 13-5 run to win the set 25-10.

The teams trade points back and forth early on. NDSCS would eventually take control of the set and take a 10-5 lead forcing a Lumberjack timeout. Out of the time out the Jacks would go on a nice 4-0 run to get the gap down to one at 10-9. The Wildcats would respond with a 6-2 run of their own to take back control with a 16-12 lead causing DCB to use their final timeout. Again, out of the timeout it would be DCB on the offensive with a quick score making the set 16-13. After that though it was all Wildcats as they finished the set on a 9-1 run to take the set and the match 25-14.

3-0 Loss LRSC

The Royals hopped out front early with a 6-3 lead. The Jacks were able to get that lead back down to one moments later at 9-8. A 6-0 LRSC run would give them a 15-8 lead and force DCB to use their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout DCB was unable to slow the Royals momentum and LRSC would take the first set 25-11.

The Royals carried their momentum over to set two with a quick 12-3 start. The Lumberjacks would use a timeout to try and slow the Royals down and regroup. The Jacks would battle and trade points with the Royals in the middle stages of the set but could never get the LRSC lead lower than seven. The Royals would pull away late to win the set 25-14.

The third set was back and forth early on it would be a 4-0 LRSC run that would be the momentum shifter giving them a 11-7 lead. DCB called a timeout to try and get back into it. Out of the timeout the Royals would push their run to 10-0 giving them a 17-7 lead. The Jacks used their final timeout to try and make a late comeback. It was not to be though as LRSC would go on to win the set and the match 25-11.

With the losses DCB falls to 0-13 overall and 0-9 inside the Mon-Dak. The Jacks will be in Nebraska Friday and Saturday for a four-game classic. Stay tuned to DCB Athletics social media channels for possible ways to watch.
