Lumberjacks Fall in Non-conference Action

The DCB Lumberjack Volleyball team dropped a tightly contested match to the University of Jamestown JV team Tuesday night 3-1.

DCB got off to a strong start in set one with a 7-4 lead. The Jimmies responded with a 6-0 run. Moments later with UJ leading 8-7 DCB would call its first timeout. Out of the timeout the Jimmies would build on their lead making it 14-9 and force the Lumberjacks to use their final timeout of the set. UJ would continue to maintain their lead as the set neared completion. The Jacks would make a late rally but fell short with Jamestown taking set one 25-23. 

The Jacks got things going in their favor early in set two with a 4-0 lead. DCB was able to hold on to that four point advantage for early stages of the set. Just as the set passed the halfway point the Jimmies would go on a 4-0 run of their own to tie the game at 15-15 and DCB would use a timeout. Coming out of the timeout a 6-3 UJ run would give them the lead at 21-18 making the Jacks use their final timeout of the set. Out of the timeout the Lumberjacks would rally and tie the game at 23-23. From there the teams would trade points back and forth with numerous thrilling volleys involved. Eventually it would be the Jacks coming out on top with the 28-26 victory to even the match at one set apiece. 

Set three started much how set two finished with teams trading points back and forth. Eventually Jamestown would take control and build up a lead at 17-13. The Lumberjacks took a timeout to regroup. The timeout failed to slow the Jimmies momentum and they would win the set by a score of 25-18. 

The Jimmies started out strong in set four with a 7-2 lead. DCB quickly used a timeout. Out of the timeout the Jimmies continued to have the momentum taking their lead to 14-9 causing DCB to use their final timeout of the set. Out of the timeout UJ would finish the set on a 11-4 run to take the set and the match by a score of 25-13. 

With the loss DCB falls to 0-11 overall Next up for the Jacks they travel to NDSCS on Tuesday for a match with the Wildcats first serve is set for 7:00p.m.
