Jacks Drop a Pair in Montana

The Lumberjack Volleyball team dropped a pair of games on the road Tuesday to Mon-Dak Conference opponents Miles Community College and Dawson Community College both by a score of 3-0.

Miles 3-0 Loss

Set one saw the teams trade points back and forth early on. With the score tied 3-3 the Pioneers were able to get on a hot streak and take control of the set. MCC outscored DCB the rest of the set 22-8 to win 25-11.

Set two started very similarly to set one with teams trading points back and forth. This time the score would be 9-9 before a team would take control of the set. Just like in the first set it would be the Pioneers that would gain the upper hand on the back of a 10-2 run to take a 19-11 lead. The Jacks would try to rally late but would be unable to do so as the Pioneers would take set two 25-17.

The Jacks struggled to find their footing in set three as the Pioneers took control of the set from the opening serve. MCC went on to win the set and the match 25-9.

Dawson 3-0 Loss

Set one saw the teams trade lead in the early going. With the score tied 5-5 the Bucs were able to go on a 7-0 run to take an 11-5 lead and force a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout DCB was able to get back on the board making the score 11-6. The Bucs were able to take back control on the next volley however with a 5-0 run of their own. DCC would be able to control the rest of the set, winning 25-10.

The pendulum swung back and forth many times in set two as neither team seemed to be able to take control. DCC would take a two-point lead and the Jacks would respond with two quick points of their own to tie up the game. Dawson took the largest lead of the set at the time at 19-16 and forced a DCB timeout. After the timeout the Jacks would score the next point. Unfortunately, the Bucs would be able to hold on to their narrow lead and go on to win set two 25-20.

Just like in the previous set things were tightly contested early on except this time it would be DCB that would be the team to build small two point leads that the Bucs would respond to. The Jacks were able to build the largest lead of the set to that point at 12-8. The Bucs would eventually cut away at the Jacks' lead tying the game up at 15-15. DCB would take a timeout and attempt to regroup. Out of the time the Bucs would continue their run and take over the lead. With the DCC lead pushed to 21-16 DCB would use their final timeout of the set. The Jacks tried to find a spark out of the timeout, but it was not to be as the Bucs would win the set and the match by a score of 25-18.

With the losses DCB now sits at 0-7 overall and 0-5 inside the Mon-Dak. The Jacks are back in action inside "The Woodshed" Friday night when they welcome ACC for a non-conference match. The first serve is set for 7:00p.m.
