The DCB volleyball team split a pair of contests this week. Winning 3-1 over Dickinson State JV and falling to Bismarck State College 3-0. 

Win over Dickinson State JV 

The first set was incredibly competitive with neither team gaining much of an edge. DCB was on the verge of winning the set leading 24-21. However, Dickinson State would rally to score the final five points of the set and win 26-24. 

The Blue Hawks would use this momentum to jump out to an early lead on the Ladyjacks in set two. The Ladyjacks didn't back down and would turn the set and the match around. Trailing 13-9 DDB would go on a 9-1 run to take a 16-14 lead and force a Blue Hawk timeout. From there the Ladyjacks controlled the set, winning 25-20. 

In set three it was all DCB. They jumped out to a 7-3 lead early and never looked back to win the set 25-17. Set four replicated the first, with back-and-forth play neither team was able to pull away. With the score tied at 11 the Ladyjacks went on an 8-2 run to take a 19-13 lead. Dickinson State would close the gap, but DCB proved to be too much winning the set and the match 25-20. 

Loss to Bismarck State  

Bismarck State controlled most of the first set, until a late DCB rally. The Ladyjacks were able to take a 20-18 lead. The Mystics, however, powered back to win a close set 25-23. 

DCB jumped out to a lead on BSC in set two holding a 13-9 lead at one point in the set. The Mystics would come back to tie the game at sixteen and proceeded to finish the set on a 9-2 run to win 25-18. 

The Ladyjacks struggled to get momentum on their side for any extended period of time in set three. The Mystics proved to be too much, winning the set and the match 25-17. 

With the split DCB moves to 2-1 overall on the season and 1-1 in the Mon-Dak. Bismarck State College improves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mon-Dak. The Ladyjacks are back in action traveling to Mon-Dak foe North Dakota State College of Science next Tuesday. Stay tuned to DCB social media channels for live stream information.
