2023-24 Women's Basketball Season Preview

The 2023-24 season will bring a brand a completely new woman's basketball team into "The Woodshed" for head coach Larry Roberts second season at the helm. A season ago the Lumberjacks had six sophomores and one freshman walk on.  This season will be the complete opposite as DCB has eight freshman and one sophomore on the roster. The one sophomore on the roster has familiarity with the Lumberjacks and the Mon-Dak Conference as Rozalind Strong transferred in from Bismarck State College. Strong played in all 28 games a season ago for the Mystics and made one start averaging 6.7ppg.

Here are some comments from Coach Roberts about this year's team, "I am super excited about the upcoming season. With zero returning sophomores on the roster, most coaches would be a little worried about having a team full of new players that have never played or seen the system I run, but what we lack in experience we make up for with speed and athleticism. Having some size in 6'3" Hanna Plumbtree to go along with the speed of Amari Butler, Kiara Comeaux and Jewels Lone Fight allows us to be extremely aggressive on the perimeter knowing we have a shot blocker behind us. BrandeeRhae Mays, Karrington Eugene and Megan Medrud give us the ability to bang and play physical in the paint and control the glass. Our transfer from BSC Rozalind Strong will take over PG duties and has been doing a great job of getting the girls the ball where they are comfortable and taking the main Defensive assignments. We also have Hadiya Woods working her way back from injury.  We are looking to play fast again this year and score as many points as we can and give the fans a great show."

The Lumberjacks open their season November 3rd in New Town as part of the Mon-Dak Tipoff Tournament. DCB will take on BSC with tipoff scheduled for noon. Stay tuned to DCB social media channels for updates and possible live streams.
