Trinity Goggles and the Ladyjacks had a busy weekend.

The DCB Ladyjacks basketball team played 2 games this past weekend at the Baymont Inn Classic held on the campus of the North Dakota State College of Science.  They fell to the University of Jamestown JV team 62-53 on Friday and Bryant and Stratton College from Wisconsin on Saturday by the score of 92-75.

In Friday's game, the Ladyjacks got off to a quick 8-3 lead, but the Jimmies made a good run just before half to go into the locker room with a 7 point lead.  DCB came out and put together a very solid 3rd quarter and led by 7 at one time, but the 4th quarter was all Jimmies.  Sydnie Nelson had a good all-around game with 3 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and a team leading 3 assists with only 1 turnover.  Taylor Keplin led the Ladyjacks in scoring with 14 points, including 4 made three pointers.  Morgan Reiser had a nice offensive effort with 8 points, while Lauren Gangl scored 9 points, all on three pointers.  Jayla Howard was aggressive on the offensive boards with 5 rebounds to go along with 9 points.

From Coach Johnson:  "We were disappointed in the outcome of this game.  We thought we had our opportunities to come away with the victory but a poor 4th quarter doomed us. Defensively I thought we played together pretty well and supported each other."

On Saturday, the Ladyjacks played tough against a powerful Bryant and Stratton squad filled with great athletes and depth.  The Bobcats jumped on DCB early and led by 12 at the end of the first quarter.  The Ladyjacks hung in tough, kept competing, and only trailed by 9 at one point in the 4th quarter before Bryant and Stratton pulled away.   Abby Simons  led the Ladyjacks with 26 points followed by Taylor Keplin with 18.  Trinity Goggles and Sydnie Nelson had good all-around games.  Goggles scored 4 points while leading DCB in rebounds with 12 and assists with 6.  Nelson chipped in with 7 points and 4 assists.

From Coach Johnson:  "In spite of the defeat, I was very happy with our play and effort today.  We battled hard, and actually had a decent defensive effort against them after the first quarter.  Offensively we were much sharper than Friday.  It was a very good team effort with everyone contributing."

DCB will play at home on Wednesday night against Turtle Mountain Community College.  Gametime is 6 PM at the Woodshed.  This will be the Ladyjacks' last game of 2019.
