The DCB Ladyjacks softball team ran their winning streak to eight games after a double-header sweep of Williston State College in Williston on Saturday.
The Ladyjacks sit at 11-4 on the season after 16-7 and 9-0 run rule wins over the Tetons. This followed 6 wins earlier in the week at the Minnesota Classic.
Game 1: The Tetons scored first in the bottom of the 1st to go up 1-0 only to see the Ladyjacks score 7 in the top of the second. The Tetons battled hard and scored 4 runs on star pitcher Kassidy Cunningham in the bottom of the third to cut the score to 7-5. DCB recovered immediately scoring 4 in the top of the fourth to regain their 6 run lead. The Tetons refused to give up scoring 2 in the bottom of the fifth only to have the Ladyjacks respond again in the top of the 6th. The Ladyjacks would score 5 more in the inning finally putting the game out of reach.
Freshman CF Stephany Ahmed lead the Ladyjacks going 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 RBI. Freshman catcher Claire Hiebert was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Freshman pitcher Kassidy Cunningham picked up her 7th Win of the season going the distance in the circle.
Game 2: This game was all Ladyjacks 4 in the first, 1 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th to shutout the Tetons 9-0.
Freshman RanDee Charlo picked up her third win of the season going 5 innings in the run rule shortened game. She struck out 10 batters and gave up just two hits. Freshman SS Michelle Krahn was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored, a SB and an RBI. Cunningham added a pair of hits.
Sunday's game Scheduled for Bottineau was postponed to a future date. Tommy Turtle Park looks to be a few weeks away from use after a brutal winter of constant snow.
The Ladyjacks are in action Tuesday at Mayville JV. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
