Blue Knights end Jacks Season

The DCB Lumberjacks saw their season come to an end Saturday afternoon at the hands of the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights in the first round of the Region 13 Tournament by a score of 76-68.

Both offenses struggled to find their footing early the Jacks used a 9-6 run over three and a half minutes to take a 23-16 lead. Over the final 10 minutes of the first half the Jacks offense struggled to score and DCTC found their groove outscoring the DCB 21-10 over the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 37-33 lead into the halftime break.

Early in the second half the teams would trade the lead and baskets back and forth. With the score tied at 40-40 both team would go on a long scoring drought, the Blue Knights would break the drought first and take the lead back at 42-40. A few possessions later Max Groom would get a put back shot up and in to break the drought for DCB and tie the game right back up at 42-42. Foul trouble become an issue for DCB as three starters got into foul trouble in the second half. A 9-2 run gave the DCTC their biggest lead of the game up to that point at 51-44. The Jacks would get the game back within one possession multiple times down the stretch but could never tie the game or retake the lead ultimately falling 76-68. As a team DCB shot just 16% from beyond the arc in the game.

Jacob Smith led the Jacks with 17 points. He was joined in double figures by Brendan Redhead with 15, Max Groom added in 11 off the bench and Loukas Triantis chipped in 10. Keenan Jones led the Blue Knights and all scorers with 24 points.  The Jacks finish their season 20-11.
