Jacks Earn Split

The DCB Lumberjacks earned a weekend split getting a win over the University of Jamestown JV 67-52. The Jacks then fell to #19 Bryant and Stratton (WI) 73-58.

67-52 Win over University of Jamestown JV

The game was very back and forth early on as the game saw five lead changes in the first half. Late in the half the Jacks were able to find their grove and pull away by eight leading 32-24 at the half. The Jacks started the second half on an 18-10 run to stretch their lead to the largest of the game at 50-34. The Jimmies responded with a run of their own of 9-0 to get the game back within single digits. The Jacks would dig in on defense and get good looks on offense to be able to put the game away by a final score of 67-52.

The Jacks won the battle on the glass 49-32 including 10 offensive rebounds. The DCB defense held the Jimmie offense to shooting just 30% from the field while shooting 44% themselves. Brendan Redhead led four Jacks in double figures with 18 points. Loukas Triantis added 16 points, Jacob Smith scored 15, and Max Groom dropped in 11. Jacob Burleson led the Jimmies with 14.

The Bobcats of Bryant and Stratton would force 15 first half turnovers and hit seven 3-pointers to take a 42-26 lead at the half. In the second half the Jacks would show a spark and try and chip away at the B&S lead, but the Bobcats always had an answer going on to win 73-58.

The Jacks committed 22 turnovers while the Bobcats committed just 12. The Bobcats also hurt the Jacks from the 3-point line knocking down 12 3's while shooting 57% from behind the arc. The Jacks hit just 4 3's shooting just 25%. Jacob Smith led three Jacks in double figures with 14 points. Loukas Triantis and Brendan Redhead each had 11. Karter Thomas led the Bobcats and all scorers with 20 points.

With the split the Jacks move to 7-4 overall. DCB plays three games this week to close out the first semester. Wednesday the Jacks host NHSC game time set for 6:00p.m. Then Saturday the Jacks travel to Jamestown to take on the Jimmies JV team. Sunday DCB returns to Mon-Dak play to take on Bismarck State College on the road.
