Palmer Leads Jacks to Conference Win

The DCB Baseball team was able to pick up their first conference win of the season thanks to a strong pitching performance from Shane Palmer.

MCC Series

In game one the Pioneers took control early leading 12-1 after two innings. MCC tacked on 3 more runs in the third before DCB pushed two runs across in the bottom of the inning making the score 15-3. The Jacks would attempt to extend the game in the bottom of the fifth but didn't drive in enough runs to do so falling 17-6. Brady Papineau doubled in the contest. Andrew Carreon, Matthew Williams Rhett Wolfrey, and Jake Anderson all drove in a run. Aaron Springer was credited with a stolen base and Riley Feldman and Wolfrey picked up strikeouts in relief.

In game two the Jacks struggled to get anything going offensively picking up just two hits and falling by a final score of 10-0. Sutton Shurley, William Broderius, and Cody Gessner had one strikeout from the mound. MJ Aasen had two.  

LRSC Series

In game one the Jacks got on the board first with four runs in the bottom of the third. The Royals made in 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning and then tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth. The Jacks would retake the lead in the bottom of the fifth at 5-4. In the top of the sixth the Royals would take the lead for the first time in the game and keep it for good going on to win by a final score of 14-7. Kevin To had a triple in the game, Auston Medina hit his second home run of the season and had three RBIs, Aaron Springer, Jake Anderson, and Colby Feldman all picked up an RBI. Adam Leiman had five strikeouts in four innings of work. Cody Gessner had one strikeout in relief.

Game two was a pitchers dual early one with zeros on the board through three innings. In the top of the fourth the Jacks got the offense going with two runs crossing the plate. DCB kept the momentum rolling making in 4-0 in the top of the fifth. Lake Region was able to make it 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Jacks tagged on two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to make it 6-1 and held on for their first conference win of the season. Jake Anderson was credited with a double, Colby Feldman had two RBIs, Andrew Carreon, and Kevin To each drove in one run each. Aaron Springer and Blayke Reyburn each picked up a stolen base. On the mound Shane Palmer was terrific going all seven innings giving up just six hit and allowing just one run to score. Palmer only walked three Royals while striking out eight of the thirty batters he faced.

NDSCS Series

DCB got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the second. The Wildcats made it 3-1 in the top of the third. The Jacks added to their lead in the bottom of the third with two runs making it 5-1. NDSCS scored two runs in the top of the fifth making the score 5-3. The Wildcats had a big top of the seventh with five runs to take the lead and the win by a final score of 8-5. Auston Medina and Andrew Carreon each doubled in the game. Medina was credited with two RBIs, Aaron Springer, and Jake Anderson each drove in one run. Lucas Dray had four strikeouts in five innings of work. Adam Leiman had one strikeout in relief.  

In game two the Jacks struggled to get hits as they were able to get just four hits in the game. The Wildcats took the game 4-0. Brady Papineau had three of the four hits, Auston Medina had the other. Jake Anderson and William Borderius each had two strikeouts on the mound.

The Jacks record now moves to 3-29 overall and 1-23 in the Mon-Dak. Postseason play begins for the Jacks as they will head to Miles City for a best of three series Saturday for two games and an if necessary, game on Sunday. Saturday's games will by at 2:00p.m. and 5:30p.m. (MDT) the Sunday if necessary game would be played at 2:00p.m. (MDT).
