Jacks Bats Struggle on the Road

It was another tough weekend for the DCB Baseball team as they dropped all six Mon-Dak games on the road.

Dawson Series

Game one would see the Bucs score two runs in the bottom the first and then take full control with an 11 run third inning. The Jacks would push two runs across in the top of the fifth, but it would not be enough to extend the game as Dawson would win by a final score of 13-2. Brady Papineau was credited with both RBIs for the Jacks. Aaron Springer would pick up a stolen base in the contest. Adam Leiman and Sutton Shurley each had two strikeouts on the mound.

Dawson took control of the second game early on as well taking a 5-0 lead after three innings. The Bucs would take a 9-0 lead to the sixth inning where DCB would get on the board with two runs. The Bucs would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 10-2. The Jacks were unable to score in the seventh falling by final score of 10-2 Matthew Williams had the lone RBI for DCB. Starting pitcher Shane Palmer had three strikeouts in four innings of work. Shurley picked up another strikeout in his second appearance of the day.

Williston Series

The Jacks would strike first in game one with two runs in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately for DCB was only able to muster one more hit after the first inning falling by a final score of 12-2. Brady Papineau and Blayke Reyburn each had an RBI. Aaron Springer picked up a double in the game. Lucas Dray had one strikeout on the mound.

Just like in game one the Jacks were only able to get three hit and two runs falling by the same score o 12-2. Kevin To had a double and an RBI in the game. Jake Anderson had two strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. Cody Gessner had one strikeout in relief.

BSC Series

Game one was a high scoring affair as BSC would score 5 runs in the top of the first inning. The Jacks would respond with 6 runs in the bottom of the first. The Mystics kept their bats going with a six run second inning to make the score 11-6. The Jacks got back on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 11-8. The Mystics stretched their lead with four runs in the top of the fourth to make the score 15-8. DCB scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 15-10. The Mystics would score 12 runs over the final three innings whereas the Jacks would score just two falling by a final score of 27-12. Rhett Wolfrey had two RBIs, Blayke Reyburn, Matthew Williams, Kevin To, and Angel Rayos each had an RBI. Williams was also credited with a double and Rayos had a stolen base. Sutton Shurley had two strikeouts on the mound and MJ Aasen had one.

In game two the Jacks bats went cold again with just two hits in the game and they scored both their runs in the top of the fifth falling by a final score of 12-2. William Borderius had four strikeouts and Kolby Kovatch had one from the mound.

DCB record moves to 2-24 overall and 0-16 in the Mon-Dak. The Jacks wrap up the regular season this weekend with three conference doubleheaders all of which are home games. Friday DCB will host Miles Community College first pitch scheduled for noon and game two will follow. Saturday the Jacks play Lake Region State College first game will start at 1:00p.m. with game two to follow. DCB will close out the regular season at home Sunday against the Wildcats of NDSCS first pitch for game one set or 1:00p.m.
