Jacks Baseball Recap April 22-30

The Dakota College Baseball team finished up 4-4 in it's last 2 series, and the team is starting to gel as they head to Devil's Lake and the MON-DAK tournament May 5-7th.

 DCB finally had a home game against 18th ranked Bismarck State on April 22nd and took both games at home in front of a good crowd. Nick Sumstine and Carter Sorenson picked up the wins on the mound for the Jacks.
 
DCB played 2 thrilling 1 run games the next Saturday returning to the Lumberyard against Lake Region. In the first game Victor Terrero hit a 2 run homer to tie the game and later had a 2 run homer in extra innings for the walk off win 10-9. The Jacks lost a tough one 8-7 in the second game, and then split a doubleheader with Lake Region in Devil's Lake Sunday.
 
Nick Sumstine had an amazing series against Lake Region. Nick pitched 9 innings with no earned runs, got both wins in the series and struck out 13 compared to 1 walk. He was 7-13 at the plate with 2 doubles, 3 stolen bases and scored 5 runs.
 
Victor Terrero had 3 home runs in the series. All 2 run homers and at critical points in the games.
 
The Jacks will start off the MON-DAK tourney Friday at 10am with a game against Lake Region. It will take 3 wins to advance to the Region 13 tournament that will be hosted by the MON-DAK winner.
