Lumberjacks Start Conference 1-3

The Lumberjack baseball team began their Mon-Dak Conference season this weekend by traveling to Williston to play against the Tetons.  With the Jacks' field not being ready to play on yet, they knew a four game road trip would be a tough test for their first conference matchup. 

In game one, DCB watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-2 loss to Williston on Saturday. Williston scored on a single and a walk in the second inning.

Williston took an early lead in the second inning as the Tetons drove in one on a single in the second inning.

Williston scored five runs in the fifth inning. Williston 's big inning was driven by a triple and a double.

Tyler Legault led the Jacks with one run batted in. He went 0-for-1 on the day. DCB didn't commit a single error in the field. Brody Moum had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

In game two, the Jacks were fired up and ready to get on the winning side of things. Right away, the Jacks took an early lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Victor Terrero drove in one run when he doubled.

Williston knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the second inning by a sac fly scored one run for Williston .

Dakota College at Bottineau took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Victor Terrero singled and drove in two runs.

Nick Sumstine earned the win for Dakota College at Bottineau. He pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out eight.

Carter Sorenson started the game for Dakota College at Bottineau. He went two and a third innings, giving up two runs, one hit, and striking out one.

The Jacks had eight hits in the game. AJ Prater, Jordan Welcome, and Victor Terrero each collected multiple hits for DCB. Victor Terrero, Jordan Welcome, and AJ Prater each collected two hits to lead the team.

In game three, the Jacks could not keep up when WSC put up five runs in the fifth inning.  There were not many stats on that game other than Nick Sumstine went 2-3 at the plate and Riley Kluin struck out five batters. 

In game four, DCB and Williston played a tight game, but Williston pulled out the 6-4 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at four with Williston batting in the top of the seventh when the Tetons homered off of Nick Sumstine, driving in two runs.

Williston captured the lead in the first inning. Williston scored one run when with a single with zero outs in the first inning.

Williston evened things up at four in the top of the second inning with a single on a 0-2 count in the second inning, scoring one run.

Nick Sumstine came in to relieve and took the loss for Dakota College at Bottineau. He tossed two innings, allowing two runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

Tyler Scheffer started the game for Dakota College at Bottineau. He tossed five innings, giving up four runs, seven hits, and striking out one.

Dakota College at Bottineau collected eight hits. AJ Prater and Nick Sumstine each collected multiple hits for Dakota College at Bottineau. Nick Sumstine and AJ Prater each collected two hits to lead Dakota College at Bottineau.

The Jacks will be off for a week until they travel to Glendive, MT to play Dawson CC on April 14-15.
