Lumberjacks Fall in ACHA Final Four

The Lumberjack women's hockey team saw their season come to an end in the ACHA Final Four. Before that though the Jacks picked up two wins in pool play.

 4-0 Win over Adrian College

Alexandria Simmons got the Jacks on the board with a powerplay goal late in the first period Zoe Cupples snagged the assist. McKenna Walls kept the momentum going with a goal early in the second period, Michelle Landsverk was credited with the assist. Macy Wither pushed the lead to 3-0 off a Kindal DeGraeve assist. DeGraeve then put the icing on the cake with the final goal of the day with the assist coming from Simmons. Kara Zelyck picked up the shutout win with 31 saves in net.

5-4 Win over Assumption

DeGraeve scored her second goal of the tournament to put the Lumberjacks up 1-0. Jaida Chartrand and Jenna Moormann were credited with assists. Landsverk found the back of the net off an assist from Walls. The Greyhounds cut into the lead with a goal of their own. Walls scored her second goal of the tournament just beating the buzzer. Brandi Yellow Wings dished the assist on the powerplay. Assumption scored the only goal of the second period and cut the Jacks lead back to one at 3-2 on a powerplay opportunity. The Greyhounds evened the on another powerplay early in the third period. Sara Smith put DCB back out in front four minutes later, Chartrand was credited with her second assist of the day. Landsverk would score her second of the day to put the Jacks up 5-3, Walls and Taylor Corkish were given assists. Assumption would get back within one late in the game, but the Jacks would hold on for a 5-4 win. Zelyck picked up the win in net with 31 saves again.

3-2 loss to Villanova

The Wildcats got on the board first with the only goal in the first period. Corkish scored her first goal of the week and evened the game early in the second period. Nova would retake the lead late in the second period on a penalty shot. The Jacks didn't go away as Yellow Wings tied the game 8 minutes into the third period Jayden Carels and Brennah McLaughlin snagged the assists. It would be the Wildcats that would score last with just 2:08 remaining in the game to pick up the 3-2 win.

6-1 loss to Sault

The Cougars netted two goals in the first period and one early in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Carels got the Jacks on the board with a powerplay goal Landsverk picked up the assist. Sault added another goal to make it 4-1. In the third period Sault added two more goals for the 6-1 win.

The Jacks see their season end with a 12-11 record
