Lumberjacks Sweep Royals, Win on Sophomore Night

After defeating Lake Region State College 3-2 24 hours prior the Royals and the Lumberjacks women's hockey teams took the ice for the final time in the regular season at home. The Jacks picked up an 8-3 win.

Lake Region got the scoring just twenty-three seconds into the game.  Alexandria Simmons tied the game with an unassisted goal seven minutes into the game.  McKenna Walls put the Jacks out front with 6:30 minutes to go in the period, Michelle Landsverk and Taylor Corkish were credited with assists. The Royals tied the game back up early in the second period. Simmons second goal of the night would give the Lumberjacks the lead for good off assists from Macy Wither and Jayden Carels. Walls also added her second goal of the night to increase the DCB lead to 4-2. Simmons and Landsverk each were given an assist. Abby Forest helped the Lumberjacks extend the lead just forty-eight seconds into the third period. Jenesha Hammond and Kendall Guenther snagged the assists. Lake Region scored their third and final goal of the night on a powerplay with 13 minutes to play. Carels kept the scoring going for the Jacks with a powerplay goal of her own less than two minutes later. Wither then added a goal to go along with her assist earlier in the night. Kylie Lagerquist and Jenna Moormann each were credited with an assist. Kindal DeGraeve closed out the scoring for the Jacks Brandi Yellow Wings and Zoe Cupples were the assisters. In the end DCB skated off with an 8-3 victory. Jacey Larson picked up the win in net with 26 saves.
