Jacks Offense Explodes Against Royals

The Lumberjack women's hockey team picked up a convincing weekend sweep of Lake Region State College winning 6-1 on Friday and 7-0 on Saturday.

6-1 Win

The Jacks offense erupted for four first period goals. Trinity Tanner and Macy Wither put DCB up 2-0 with a pair of unassisted goals just three minutes into the game. Three minutes later Sara Smith found the back of net on a powerplay opportunity Alexandria Simmons and Jenesha Hammond picked up the assists. Taylor Corkish closed out the first period scoring late in the period, Wither was credited with the assist. The Royals picked up their lone goal on the weekend in the second period to make the score 4-1. Anika Deschamps-Cross scored late in the period and Smith was credited with the assist. Abby Forest rounded out the Jacks scoring in the contest. Michelle Landsverk, and Jayden Carels snagged the assists. When the horned sounded the Jacks would win 6-1. Skyla Louttit picked up the win in net with 23 saves.

7-0 Win

DCB was able to keep the offense going on day two as Wither would score here second of the weekend coming off assists from Corkish, and Deschamps-Cross just two minutes into the game. Tanner would also find the back of the net for the second time on the weekend with another unassisted goal. The Jacks broke the game open in the second with three goals in the period. Tanner scored again with an assist from Hammond.  DCB would then score two goals in the final nine seconds of the period. Smith would score first and Simmions was credited with the assist. Just six seconds later Madison Thompson scored Kindal DeGraeve and Kylie Lagerquist picked up the assists. The third period would see Landsverk scored a pair of goals for the Jacks, Smith picked up two assists, and Hammond was credited with her third assist on the weekend. The Jacks routed the Royals 7-0. Kara Zelyck picked up the shutout win with 37 saves.

DCB improves to 6-2 overall. Next Saturday and Sunday the Jacks have a big home and home series with ACC. The Jacks travel to Brandon, MB Saturday night and host the Cougars Sunday afternoon.
