Warriors Sweep Jacks

The DCB Lumberjacks were swept by the Waldorf Warriors this weekend. Falling 6-3 Friday and coming up just short 3-2 on Saturday.

Friday 6-3 loss

Waldorf put the first goal on the board and added a second one on the powerplay. The Jacks were able to cut the deficit in half on a powerplay opportunity. Ryan Patterson found the back of the net. Leighton Holstein and JJ Adams were credited with the assists. The Warriors broke the game open in the second period scoring four goals in the period to take a 6-1 lead. The Jacks were able to get two goals back in the third Tyson Pringle lit the lamp with an assist from Riley Opperude. Adams scored on the powerplay with assists from Pringle and Aiden Morelli. It would not be enough as the Jacks would fall by the final of 6-3. The Warriors outshot the Jacks 48-30 in the game.

3-2 loss

Waldorf got on the board first with a goal in the first period. After the first period Waldorf held a narrow advantage over the Jacks in shots on goal 11-10. Ethan Siemens tied the game with a powerplay goal Riley Opperude picked up another assist. The Jacks were able to take their first lead of the game when Tyson Pringle got a breakaway goal. After two periods the Jacks held a 2-1 lead but trailed in the shots on goal category 24-19. The Warriors were able to tie the game early in the third period and later take the lead for good at 3-2 on a powerplay opportunity. Waldorf out shot the Jacks 33-27, DCB went just one for four on their powerplay opportunities.

Here is what Coach Rybchinski had to say about the weekend "it is tough right now as I think we played well enough to win it just didn't happen. We are doing a lot of things right, but we can't seem to put it together for 60 minutes. A lot of growing pains. We just have to keep working through it and get better everyday."

After the weekend the Jacks are 3-10-0-2. DCB will close out the semester with a pair of home games against the University of Mary next weekend.
