Lumberjacks Fall in Shootout to Aggies

The Lumberjacks of DCB and the Utah State Aggies played their second game in less than 15 hours against each other and for the second time the teams went to overtime. Overtime was not enough in today's contest and the teams would decide the game in a shootout were the Aggies would get the win 4-3.

The Lumberjacks outplayed the Aggies in the opening period. DCB outshot Utah State 13-8 in the first twenty minutes. Neither team was able to score leaving us tied at 0-0. The action picked up in the second period as Utah State opened the scoring just before the halfway point. The Jacks had numerous powerplay opportunities to tie the game and finally capitalized with a goal from JJ Adams his second of the weekend. Ryan Patterson and Tyson Pringle were each credited with an assist. The game did not remain tied for long as Utah State added another goal just a few minutes later. The Jacks weren't done scoring either as Matt Olson forced a turnover and tied the game up with an unassisted goal. After two periods the Jacks had outshot the Aggies 23-12. The action continued into the third period. Aiden Morelli gave DCB their first lead of the game off a JJ Adams assist. The Aggies tied it back up and the teams played overtime for the second consecutive night. Neither team was able to score in the extra period. In the shootout neither team was able to find the net. On their third attempt Utah State was able to score. The Jacks couldn't execute on their end giving the Aggies the 4-3 shootout win.

With the loss the Jacks fall to 2-3 overall. DCB is back in action with a two-game home and home series with the University of Jamestown November 5-6th. The game on the 5th will be in the Lumberdome and the game on the sixth will be in Jamestown.
