Women's hockey coach Reed Loucks signed on in 2020. Born and raised in Melita, MB Canada, Loucks started playing hockey when he was 4 years old in the Melita minor hockey system. As a teen, he played AAA with the Manitoba Ice Dogs every summer until high school. While attending Melita High School he played 3 years of high school hockey along with many other sports for the Melita/Waskada Devils. Reed was awarded rookie of the year, MVP (X2), top forward, and male athlete of the year. He graduated in 2012 and committed to play for the Lumberjack hockey team. He also played one year with the Jacks baseball team. After two seasons (2012-14) in Bottineau and graduating with an AA and an AS degree Reed transferred to Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa (ACHA D2). He played 3 seasons there (2015-18). He was an assistant captain and was a key member of the team that won the NCHL Conference Championship in 2014-15. He was a two-year scholar-athlete along with scoring a team-high 16 goals in the 2015-16 season.

Reed graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Psychology and went on to teach for 2 years at OneSchool Global in Oxbow, Saskatchewan. Loucks was named the first-ever coach of the DCB women’s hockey team with a record inaugural season of 10-5-2, including games versus DI teams. He works for Residence Life, head resident of Gross Hall, and teaches golf in the spring semester. Reed shares a daughter, Hazel with Coach Rivera.
