Ladyjacks Drop Two in Montana

The DCB ladyjacks Volleyball team dropped a pair of Mon-Dak games in Montana Tuesday and Wednesday night. Falling in a heartbreaker 3-2 to Miles Community College on Tuesday and 3-0 to Dawson Community College on Wednesday.

3-2 Loss to Miles

In set one the Ladyjacks jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead and forced a Pioneers timeout. Out of the timeout DCB continued to control the set stretching the lead to 11-4. The Ladyjacks weren't challenged cruised to an easy set win 25-15.

Set two saw MCC start quick scoring seven quick points and grabbing a 7-3 lead. DCB answered back to take a 9-8 lead. As the set progressed the Ladyjacks continued to hold a 1–2-point lead. With the set approaching its conclusion MCC was able to tie the game at 17-17. The Pioneers took a 21-19 lead and forced a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout the Ladyjacks tied the game at 22-22, however MCC was able to score three straight points and take the set 25-22.

The Ladyjacks scored four quick points to take a 4-1 lead to force a quick Pioneer timeout. DCB controlled the set from that point on by being able to keep the deficit at 4-6 points winning the set by a final score of 25-18.

Set four was very back and forth with neither team able to get control of the set early on. As the set reached the halfway point DCB held a 13-12 lead. DCB stretched the lead to 17-14 and force a MCC timeout. Out of the timeout the Pioneers took over and finished the set on an 11-2 run to win the set 25-19 to force a fifth set.

In the fifth and deciding set DCB jumped out to a 5-1 lead forcing the Pioneers to use a timeout. At the midway point of the set the Ladyjacks held an 8-3 lead. A 7-2 MCC run tied the game at 10-10 and forced a DCB timeout. The Ladyjacks took control out of the timeout and had match point at 14-12. MCC was able to take back control scoring four straight points to give them the set and match win 16-14.

3-0 Loss to Dawson

Set one was very back-and-forth with neither team able to pull away. The Ladyjacks grabbed a 13-11 at the midway point of the set. The Bucs responded with a 4-1 run to take a 15-14 lead. Both teams jockeyed for control. DCC was able to take a 19-16 lead and force a DCB timeout. Out of the time out the back-and-forth continued Dawson was able to maintain their three-point lead at 22-19 and force the Ladyjacks to use their second and final timeout of the set. DCB couldn't cut into the lead and the Bucs won the set 25-20.

In set two DCB got out to an early 11-6 lead. The Ladyjacks were able to double up the Bucs at 14-7. Dawson responded with a 10-3 run to tie the game at 17-17. Another quick DCC point gave them an 18-17 lead and made the Ladyjacks use a timeout. Out of the timeout the Bucs stretched their run to 13-3 giving them a 20-17 lead and DCB had to use their final timeout.  The timeout could not slow the Bucs momentum and they would take the set 25-18.

DCC kept the momentum rolling in set three with a 5-0 run to start forcing a quick DCB timeout. Out of the timeout the Ladyjacks could not slow down the Bucs as they stretched the lead to 12-4, and DCB used their final timeout of the set. After the timeout the Ladyjacks sparked a rally with a 12-5 run to cut the Bucs lead to just one at 17-16, and DCC called a timeout. Out of the timeout it became a back-and-forth battle for control, with numerous ties and single point leads. The Bucs regained the momentum ot scoring the Ladyjacks 6-3 down the stretch to win the set and the match 25-22.

With the loss DCB drops to 8-11 overall and 4-7 in Mon-Dak play. The Ladyjacks close out the regular season next Wednesday in "The Woodshed" against Williston State College. Game time is set for 7:00p.m.
