After rolling past Gogebic College 85-62i in the Regional Semi Final the Lumberjack Women's Basketball team advanced to the Region Championship Sunday against United Tribes Technical College. The Jacks would overcome double digit deficits multiple times getting the game back to two possessions but would eventually fall 71-63.
The Jack found themselves down 10 points after the first quarter. DCB used a strong defensive effort in the second 10 minutes to stay within striking distance of the Thunderbirds. At the half DCB trailed 39-31.
In the second half UTTC stretched their lead to as many as 16 points. The Jacks didn't go away though eventually getting the lead down to six. The Jacks had a look that would have cut the deficit to four but couldn't convert. UTTC went on to win the game 71-63.
Kiara Comeaux was the only Lumberjack in double figures with 30 points. Over the weekend Comeaux broke the single season assist record at DCB previously held by Shannon Smith who dished 190 assists during the 2010-2011 season. Comeaux finished the 2024-25 campaign with 199 assists. Alionna Lawernce led UTTC with 20 points.
