After a struggling to get going in the first quarter the Lumberjack Women's Basketball team would compete for the final three quarters. However, they would be unable to get back within striking distance of the Bismarck State College Mystics, falling by a final score of 96-66.
The Jacks were held to just 10 first quarter points and committed 12 turnovers in the opening 10 minutes. After one quarter they trailed 31-10. In the second quarter the Jacks played better, committing just four turnovers and scoring right with the Mystics 25 apiece for each team in the quarter. Terayna Tapija-Jones led the Jacks with nine in the quarter. The Jacks competed for another quarter with BSC, but the Mystics pulled even further away thanks to five 3-pointers in the quarter. Serinity Soland had a nice quarter scoring 10 points and shooting 62.5% from the field. Both teams struggled on the offensive end of the floor in the fourth quarter as DCB shot 19% from the field and BSC shot 28%. When the final buzzer sounded the Mystics took the game 96-66.
Soland led three Jacks in double figures with 16 points. Tapijia-Jones and Kiara Comeaux each scored 15. Harys Beauchamp led the Mystics and all scorers with 23 points.
DCB falls to 12-13 overall and 4-7 inside the Mon-Dak. The Jacks are back in Bismarck tonight to take on United Tribes. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30p.m.
