The Lumberjack Women's Basketball team gave the 23rd ranked NDSCS Wildcats everything they wanted and then some. However, a fourth quarter drought would allow NDSCS to pull away for a 85-56 victory.
The Wildcats were able to gain an early lead but were never able to put more than two or three possessions between themselves and the Jacks. Despite foul and turnover trouble, the Jacks went into the halftime break down 38-33. Back-to-back three pointers by Day Whitehawk would give the Jacks their first lead of the game. For much of the third quarter the two teams would trade the lead. The Jacks would get their lead to as many as four points. The Wildcats would end the quarter on a run to regain the five point lead they had at halftime. The fourth quarter saw the Jacks struggle to get their offense going, by only scoring four points. The Wildcats would pull out the win by a final score of 85-56.
Whitehawk led Lumberjacks in scoring with 18 points. Kiara Comeaux added 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Amari Butler also finished in double figures with 10 points. Maggie Westling led the Wildcats and all scorers with 36 points.
DCB drops to 7-9 overall and 0-3 inside the Mon-Dak. The Jacks return to "The Woodshed" Sunday for a key Region 13 and conference match-up with United Tribes. Gametime is set for 1:00p.m.
