The Lumberjack Women's basketball team will enter the second semester with an 8-7 record all of which were non-conference games. After finishing the Mon-Dak Tip-off Tournament 1-2 the Jacks picked up three convincing wins wining by an average score of 54 points. The Jacks then dropped a road game to Northland Community and Technical College who was ranked 2nd in NJCAA Division III at the time. DCB final win of the semester came last Tuesday over TMCC 74-43.
The Jacks currently have three players averaging double figures Terayna Tapija-Jones leads the team averaging 23 ppg. She is joined in double figures by Amari Butler and Kiara Comeaux who average 19.5 and 19.2 ppg respectively. Comeaux earned Mon-Dak Player of the Week honors earlier this month for outstanding performances against the University of Jamestown JV and Dickinson State JV. Against the Jimmies Comeaux finished with a career high 45 points. The 45 points is the most since Imani Scott scored 45 against United Tribes in 2015. Comeaux followed that up with 31 points against the Bluehawks to earn Player of the Week honors. Comeaux leads the team in two other categories grabbing 8.8 rebounds a game and dishing 5 assists a game. Butler leads the team with 5.4 steals a game.
The Jacks will return from the holiday break to kick off Mon-Dak play with a familiar face on the bench. Wayne Johnson will return to lead the Jacks for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
