Ladyjacks Comeback attempt Falls just Short

The Ladyjacks, this past week, looked to revenge one of their loses from earlier in the season when they squared off with the Williston State Tetons. The Tetons won the first meeting 86-58 in the Pre-Season Mon-Dak Conference Tournament in New Town, North Dakota.

That was going to be difficult though as the Ladyjacks would find themselves down 10-0 right away to start the game. The Tetons, at one point, lead the Ladyjacks by 18 midway through the second quarter. The Ladyjacks battled back and brought the score to 32-25 at the half. On the offensive side of the court, both teams exploded for their highest scoring quarters of the night, which saw the Tetons putting up 26 points, while the Ladyjacks scored 22. In the fourth quarter the Ladyjacks made some defensive changes that helped hold the Tetons to only nine points. Within the last minute of the game the Ladyjacks trimmed the Tetons lead to only four points, but they weren't able to get any closer. The final score read Tetons 67, Ladyjacks 61.

Coach Johnson had this to say about the game, "Our concern for their excellent three-point shooters opened up too many opportunities at the rim. That is something that needs to be addressed when they come to the Woodshed".

In the game the Ladyjacks had only two players score in double figures, that being Maria Moore (26) and Alyssa St. Pierre (10). The Ladyjacks shot 22/63 (36%) and 10/31 (32%) from behind the arch. The next time that the Tetons and the Ladyjacks square off will be on Sunday, February 20th in the Woodshed.

Next up for the Ladyjacks will be on the road versus Bismarck to face the Mystics. They are currently 14-1 overall, and second in the Mon-Dak standings. Coach Johnson said that they are looking forward to the opportunity to play another strong Mon-Dak team as they realize the potential for their growth
