The Lumberjack Softball team went 0-4 this past weekend at the UJ Dome invite. The Jacks dropped game one to the University of Jamestown JV team 16-2, game two they dropped to Lake Region State College 16-8, game three to Dawson Community College 14-6, and the final game of the weekend to Bismarck State College 14-3.
16-2 loss to UJ JV
The Jacks had 7 hits in the loss Eveleana Parker had a double, and Laila Romero and Jamaica Cheatham each drove in a run for DCB. Darcie Rae had one strikeout in the circle.
16-8 loss to Lake Region State College
Emma Rybchinski drove in a run in the top of the first inning to give the Jacks an early 1-0 lead. LRSC responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. L. Romero tied the game in the top of the third with a single. LRSC took the lead back in the bottom of the third. DCB didn't go away though as the Jacks put six runs on the board in the top of the fifth. Rybchinski drove in her second run of the contest, Zoe Romero, Jamaica Cheatham, and Ava Flannery all drove in a run two more runs scored on LRSC errors giving DCB an 8-6 lead. The Jacks struggled in the bottom of the inning surrendering seven runs. DCB was unable to score in the top of the sixth and gave up 3 more runs in the bottom of the sixth to fall by a final score of 16-8. Rae recorded one strikeout in the circle.
14-6 loss to Dawson
Rybchinski again would open the scoring for the Jacks in the top of the first. The Bucs scored six runs in the first and four in the second, the Jacks would be unable to overcome that deficit. Adyson Brady tailed two hits including a double and a RBI in the game, L. Romero also doubled and drove in a run. Parker was credited with driving in the last earned run for DCB.
14-3 loss to Bismarck State College
For the third consecutive game Rybchinski would be the player to put DCB on the board this time with a double that scored two runs. The Mystics would cut the lead with a run in the bottom of the first scoring one run. After a scoreless top half, the second, BSC scored five runs in the bottom half to take control of the game. Cheatham would drive in a run in the top of the third before falling by a final score of 14-3. L. Romero recorded a double in the contest and Z. Romero had one strikeout in the circle.
The Jacks fall to 1-7 overall. The Jacks will have a few weeks off before heading to Kansas and Nebraska for four series between March 11-15th
