The Lumberjack Men's Basketball team ran into a hot shooting United Tribes Thunderbird team Monday night in Bismarck. UTTC shot 52% from the field and knocked down 13 three pointers enroute to an 89-73 victory over the Jacks.
The Jacks found themselves down early as the Thunderbirds opened the game on a 17-7 run. After a DCB timeout the Jacks worked their way back into the game with a 15-5 run to tie the game at 22-22. DCB would eventually capture the lead at 28-26 just past the halfway mark of the first half. However, over the final seven minutes of the first half UTTC would go on a 19-10 run to take a 45-38 lead into the locker room.
In the second half the T-birds continued to hit shots and just gradually pulled way from the Lumberjacks. After stretching the lead to 17 points the Jacks tried to work their way back into it getting the deficit down to nine points with four minutes remaining. This is as close as the Jacks would get falling 89-73.
Edward Lual led three Jacks in double figures with 18 points off the bench while shooting 80% from the field. Jalen Blanchard stayed hot from beyond the arc knocking down 5 more last night and scoring 17 points. Shaun Armstrong also finished in double figures with 11. Houston Davis led UTTC and all scorers with 29 points.
DCB record moves to 16-12 overall and 3-9 in Mon-Dak play. The Jacks return home for two final home games to close out the regular season. DCB hosts Miles Community College at 3:00p.m. Sunday and Dawson Community College for Sophomore night Monday at 7:30p.m.
