Jacks Drop Exhibition Game in Overtime

The Lumberjack Men's Basketball team dropped an exhibition game Wednesday night to Trinity Bible College 85-83 in overtime.

Despite the game being an exhibition, the game was very entertaining. Very little separation was created as the Jacks' largest lead of the first half was four points and the Lions was five both those leads came very early in the half. The opening 20 minutes also saw 10 ties and 10 lead changes. At the end of the first half TBC held a 41-40 lead. Jalen Blanchard paced DCB with 10 points.

The second half was much like the first, no lead was larger than five and there were four more lead changes and 6 more ties. Coincidentally both teams had 17 points come from bench players in the contest. At the end of regulation Shaun Armstrong would hit a jumper just off the elbow to tie the game with three seconds remaining. The Lions would get a shot off to attempt to win the game but couldn't convert, sending the game to overtime. In overtime the Lions would get their lead even with the largest of the game. A deficit the Jacks would not be able to overcome. Armstrong would hit a three pointer to bring the final score to 85-83 in favor of TBC.

Blanchard led four Lumberjacks in double figures with 18 points. Cael Simpson and Edward Lual finished with 14 points apiece and Armstrong added 12. Jonathan Ogugua led the Lions and all scorers with 28 points.

The game does not affect the Jacks record which remains 14-9. The Jacks return to Mon-Dak play Monday where they are 1-6 to take on Williston State on the road.
