Jacks Get Right with Win Over Mystics

After dropping five straight games the Lumberjack men's basketball team got back to their winning ways with an 88-75-win Wednesday night over Bismarck State College.

A 16-4 run to start the game allowed the Jacks to get out to a comfortable lead. The three pointers were falling in the first half as the Jacks knocked down 11 3's in the first half to help maintain a double figure lead. At the end of the first half DCB held a 43-32 lead. Brendan Redhead paced the lumberjacks with 19 first half points.

In the early going of the of the second half the Jacks were able to maintain their double-figure lead but struggled to expand on it. A run from the 12:00 mark of the second half until the 6:00 mark allowed DCB to build a 21-point lead. The run was fueled by 15 second half points from Max Groom on 6-7 shooting and Wai'opa Louis added 8 points off the bench including 2 three pointers. The Mystics didn't go away quietly though and got the deficit down to as little as eight at81-73 with 3:00 remaining in regulation. That is as close as BSC would get as DCB would hold the Mystics to just two points in the final 3 minutes. The Lumberjacks would pick up the 88-75 win.

Redhead led all scorers and four Lumberjacks in double figures with 25 points. Groom finished with 23, Louis added 13 points off the bench, and Danny Lazic dropped in 10 points. Raymond Brown led the Mystics with 19 points, all coming in the second half.

With the win the Jacks move to 15-10 overall and 7-9 inside the Mon-Dak Next up for DCB they will host Dawson Community College Sunday afternoon at 2:00p.m.
