Wildcats Spoil Sophomore Night for Jacks

The NDSCS Wildcats finished the game on a 16-8 run to defeat the DCB Lumberjack Basketball Team 77-66 on Sophomore night.

The game was very back and forth all night with 11 lead changes and 9 ties. Connor Trahan hit a jumper in the lane to give the Jacks their biggest lead of the half at 21-16 with 8:32 left in the first half. As time ticked away in the first half neither team could take control at halftime NDSCS led 33-32. Trahan paced the Jacks in the first half with 10 points.

The back-and-forth affair would continue to start the second half with the Jacks and the Wildcats matching each other shot for shot. When it looked like the Wildcats were about to pull away Brendan Redhead got a steal and found Trahan for an easy two making it 58-54 Wildcats. A few possessions later Loukas Triantis was able to tie the game back up at 58-58. With 5:21 to play. Over the final five minutes the Wildcats would find a grove on both ends of the floor and take control. Finishing the game on a 19-8 run. The Jacks had to foul in the final minute to gain more possessions but would fall 77-66.

Connor Trahan led the Jacks with 15 points off the bench. Shandon Judd-Danne Anderson scored 13, Loukas Triantis added in 12, and Jacob Smith posted 11 points of the bench. Noah Christensen led NDSCS and all scorers with 19 points.

With the loss DCB falls to 18-10 overall and 11-8 in the Mon-Dak. Next up the Jacks a scheduled to take on United Tribes Thursday at 7:30p.m. in Bismarck.  In the previous two meetings this season the game winning basket has come with less then a second remaining.
