Efficient First Half Pushes Jacks Past Tetons

The DCB Men's basketball team used an efficient offensive attack and strong defense to take full control of the Williston State Tetons in the first half of Wednesday's Mon-Dak Conference game winning by a final score of 83-60.

Both teams started slow as the Jacks held a 5-3 lead three minutes into the game. At the first media timeout of the first half the Jacks were able to stretch their lead to 12-7. Out of the timeout the Jacks offense started firing on all cylinders going on a 9-2 run to stretch the lead to 21-9. The Jacks offense continued to be efficient as Max Groom would score 20 first half points on 8-8 shooting. As a team the Jacks shoot 54% from the field in the first half while holding WSC to just 31%. At the half DCB led 50-31.

While not as efficient as in the first half the Jacks offense continued to roll as Brendan Redhead and Connor Trahan each scored eight points in the half for DCB. The Jacks owned the glass in the second half pulling down seven offensive rebounds. The Jack's defense was just as strong in the second half as they were in the first holding the Tetons to just 29 points and 28% shooting from the field. In the end the Jacks grabbed the win by a score of 83-60. For the game the Jacks dished 17 assists compared to the Tetons 6. The Jacks forced 20 turnovers while committing 16 and shot 47.6% from the field while holding WSC to 30%.  

Max Groom led four Jacks in double figures with 24 points, Brendan Redhead dropped in 16 points off the bench, and Connor Trahan and Loukas Triantis each had 14 points. Trahan was 5-5 shooting on the night and 4-4 from beyond the 3-point line. Triantis filled the stat sheet with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Grady Gonsioski, and Shaheed Muhmmad paced the Tetons with 14 points each.

With the win DCB improves to 13-4 overall and 6-2 in the Mon-Dak. The Jacks host Bismarck State College Sunday tip off scheduled for 3:00p.m.
