The "Woodshed" is the DCB gymnasium located in Thatcher Hall.

This past weekend the Lumberjacks basketball team played the final two Mon-Dak games before the Thanksgiving break. On Saturday, DCB hosted the Tetons from Williston State College, and on Sunday they traveled to Devils Lake to play the Lake Region State College Royals.

Saturday in the Woodshed the Lumberjacks squared off with the Tetons, who came in with a record of 2-4. Both teams were in a need of a win and only one was going to come away with it. DCB wasted no time en route to a 21-2 run to start the game coming out right away knocking down shots and getting stops on the defensive end. Coach Sorby worked to instill in the young Lumberjacks team the importance of getting "one and done" on the defensive side of the court. The end of first half saw the DCB with a sizeable lead with the score reading 51-34. In the second half, the Tetons would challenge the lead, chipping down DCB's lead to just eight points, but that would be as close as they would get. DCB would respond with a run of their own, making the final score Lumberjacks 95 Tetons 77.

DCB was led in scoring by their big man, Marcell Drone. Drone scored 23 points, grabbed five rebounds, and added four blocks. After Drone, three out of the other four starters scored in double figures. This is the first Mon-Dak conference win for the Lumberjacks this season.

Sunday the Lumberjacks traveled to Devils Lake to play the Royals. It was not the same story offensively for the Lumberjacks as it was the day before. Unable to make shots early, the Lumberjacks saw themselves fall into a hole and were not able to get themselves out of it. One of the bright spots for the Lumberjacks was the play of Deron McDaniel. McDaniel led the Lumberjacks in scoring with 30 points out of the teams 59 scored.

Next stop for the Lumberjacks before Thanksgiving break will be to New Town on November 23rd against Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College Storm. Both the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks will be in action. Ladyjacks will play at 6:00 P.M, followed by the Lumberjacks at 8:00 P.M.
