Jacks Take One From Wildcats

The Lumberjack Baseball team went 1-3 in their weekend series with NDSCS.

10-7 loss

The Jacks dropped a back-and-forth game to open the series after giving up three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Dalton Vangorden led the offensive attack with a home run and two RBIs. Dominic Holmstrup doubled and drove in two runs. Kaeden Wilcox tallied two hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base. McLeod Sell snagged two bases and Kayden Cey swiped one base himself. Nicholas Jacobson struck out one batter in three hitless innings of relief work. Derek Borino had two strikeouts also in relief.

10-5 win

The Jacks bats really got going in game two of the weekend. Joe Plett, Wilcox, and Cey all homered for the Jacks. Plett tallied four RBIs in the contest, while Wilcox drove in three, and Cey one. Ayden Ramirez, and Holmstrup each also drove in one run.  Ayden Lasson and Wilcox each doubled to close out the Jacks hitting highlights. Grady Davis picked up the win on the mound for the Jacks striking out four in five innings of work. Andrew Crowe registered one strikeout in an inning of relief.

11-1 loss

The Wildcats broke a 1-1 tie with a ten run fifth inning. Wilcox, Plett, and Lasson each registered a hit, and Holmstrup drove in the Jacks lone run. Owen Taylor struck out three Wildcats on the mound. D"Angelo Bouctouche had one strikeout in relief.

6-0 loss

Sell doubled for DCB's only hit in the contest. Bryce Meyers had five strikeouts on the mound. Bouctouche had one strikeout in his second relief appearance of the day.

DCB's overall record moves to 13-19 overall and 1-11 inside the Mon-Dak. DCB hosts Bismarck State College Friday for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:00p.m.
