Lumberjacks Win 6 Games on Spring Trip

The Lumberjack Baseball team picked up six wins during their spring trip that spammed three states.

 

After dropping the first game of the series 6-3,t he Jacks picked up their first win of the season in a 8-5 victory over the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers JV team. Some highlights in that game included Will Parsons driving in three runs, Michael Khatkar, Andrew Carreon, and Joe Plett each also drove in a run. McLeod Sell doubled and had a stolen base. Parsons, Khatkar, Carreon, Brady Papineau, and Tatum Packer were also thieves on the basepaths, each snagging a stolen base. On the mound Shane Palmer picked up the win on the mound and struck out four Tigers. Nathaniel McGill struck out one batter in relief. William Broderius picked up the save and had four strikeouts.

 

The Jacks then dropped one game to the University of Sioux Falls JV team 10-0. The Jacks would then head to Colorado for a doubleheader with Adams State JV. Adams State would take game one 18-7, before the Jacks would bounce back and take game two 12-11. Carreon would come up big at the plate again with a pair of doubles and 3 RBIs. Papineau and Khatkar each drove in a pair of runs, Khatkar also doubled. Adrian Oles, Blayke Reyburn, and Packer also got in on the action driving in a run apiece. McGill got the start on the mound and struck out 7 batters in three innings of work. Sutton Shurley picked up the win in relief giving up just one run in two innings of work. Rhett Wolfrey had one strikeout in an inning of work, and Broderius picked up his second save of the season.

 

The Jacks extended their win streak to three with a sweep of California Miramar winning game one 4-2 and game two 11-3. Plett had a pair of RBIs, Packer and Khatkar each drove in one run. Palmer got the start on the bump and struck out 5 batters. Shurley picked up his secomd win of the season and Broderius was credited with his third save of the year. In game two Carreon drove in five runs, and Oles and Khatkar each had two RBIs each. Nate Huisken pitched a complete game for DCB and had eight strikeouts.

 

DCB continued their hot streak with a 6-5 victory over Northland. Reyburn had two RBI's, Plett and Papineau each had one run driven in. Kevin To got the start and had one strikeout in four innings of work. Shurley had two strikeouts in relief. Broderius came in and picked up the picked up the win. DCB saw their four-game win streak come an end with a 9-8 loss to the Pioneers in the second game of the doubleheader. 

 

The Jacks closed out their spring trip with a split with Minnesota North Rainy River winning game one 8-5 and dropping game two 7-6. In the win Papineau knocked in two runs while Khatkar, Carreon and Reyburn each had one run batted in. Riley Gehler-Pachin picked up the win on the mound and had one strikeout. Jake Casares had one strikeout in relief. Palmer closed the game out and picked up the save with two strikeouts.

 The Jacks come out of their spring trip with a 6-9 record. They are scheduled to be back in action later this week against Northland Community and Technical College stay tuned for updates.
