Jacks Split with Bison

The Lumberjack Women's Hockey team split a weekend series at NDSU this past weekend winning game one 5-1 and falling in game two 4-3.

5-1 win

Taylor Corkish got the Jacks on the board eight minutes into the first period, McKenna Walls and Danee Crepeele assisted. At the six-minute mark of the second period the Bison tied the game at 1-1. That tie lasted for 113 seconds as Walls put the Jacks back on top thanks to a Jenesha Hammond assist. With a little more than four minutes remaining Hammond extended the Jacks lead to two at 3-1 Walls and Corkish were credited with the assists. Two goals within 22 seconds of each other put the game away for DCB. First Walls netted her second goal of the game Corkish and Hammond added another assist to each of their stat lines. The final goal of the game came off the stick of Brandi Yellow Wings, Cydny Price had the assist. When the final horn sounded DCB picked up a 5-1 win. Skyla Louttit picked up the win in the net with 26 saves.

4-3 loss to NDSU

The Bison took an early 2-0 lead, before Walls scored her third goal of the weekend to put DCB back within one late in the first period. NDSU used a powerplay opportunity early in the second period to push their lead back to two goals at 3-1. The Bison added to their lead with a goal in the early going of the third period taking a 4-1 lead. The Jacks didn't go away though, Kendall Guenther found the back of the net to bring the Jacks back within two goals, Hammond and Price had the assist. Crepeele scored to bring the Jacks back within one goal and Jenna Moormann would get the assist. That's as close as DCB would get, however, falling by the final score of 4-3.

DCB falls to 6-10-1-0. The Jacks travel to Brandon Thursday to take on Assiniboine. Puck drop is set for 7:45p.m.
