The Lumberjack Women's Hockey team pushed their win streak to 3 games Thursday night with a narrow 8-7 victory over Lake Region State College.
The Jacks opened the scoring when Macy Wither lit the lamp off assists from Brandi Yellow Wings and Sara Smith. The Royals then tied the game at 1-1. The Jacks were able to regain the lead when Calleja Misson scored off a Taylor Corkish assist. Back-to-back LRSC goals gave them a 3-2 lead. Late in the period Wither tied the game with her second goal of the period.
McKenna Walls gave DCB the lead back with the first goal of the second period. Jenesha Hammond and Corkish had the assists. The Royals tied it back up before two straight goals by the Jacks made it 6-4 DCB after two periods. The first Jacks goal was scored by Danee Crepeele, Smith had the assist. Walls netted her second of the period and Corkish picked up her third assist of the game. LRSC scored to make it 6-5 to close the second period.
Crepeele scored to push the Jacks lead back to two. DCB had their largest lead of the night at 8-5 when Hammond scored for the second time with Anika Deschamps-Cross and Walls had the assists. Two late Royals goals cut the DCB lead to just one, but the Jacks were able to hold on in the final minute for the 8-7 win. Skyla Louttit was credited with the win in net with 33 saves.
With the win DCB moves to 4-6-1-0 overall. Jacks return home next Friday at 8:00p.m. for a rematch with Lake Region.
