Lumberjacks Roll Past Bison

The Lumberjack women's hockey team rolled past the North Dakota State Bison this weekend picking up 3-1 and 6-0 wins.

3-1 Win

The Bison got on the board first with a goal just prior to the seven-minute mark in the first period. The Jacks would then rattle off three powerplay goals, one in each period to take the 3-1-win Alexandria Simmons kept her hot streak alive with an unassisted goal in the first. Brennah McLaughlin netted her first goal of the season with Jayden Carels picked up the assist in the second period. Carels closed out the scoring with her first goal of the season, Brandi Yellow Wings and Anika Deschamps-Cross were credited with assists. Skyla Loutitt picked up the win in net with 23 saves.

6-0 Win

McKenna Walls got the Jacks on the board just a minute into the game, Michelle Landsverk was credited with an assist. Sara Smith picked up back-to-back goals to make in 3-0 Lumberjacks, Smith's first was unassisted. The second saw assists come from Simmons and Jenna Moormann. In the second Macy Wither found the back of the net and Smith added an assist to her two-goal stat line. Less than two minutes later Kendall Guenther scored, Abby Forest and Jenesha Hammond picked up the assists. Simmons closed out the scoring for the game just prior to the halfway point of the second period with her second goal of the weekend, Walls and Landsverk each snagged an assist. The Lumberjacks won by a final score of 6-0 Kara Zelyck picked up the shutout win with 25 saves.

The Jacks improve to 7-7 overall on the season. Next up for the Lumberjacks a pair of exhibition home games against Pilot Mound Friday and Saturday.
