Jacks Split at Sault Showcase

The Lumberjack Women's Hockey team earned a split this weekend at the Sault Showcase. DCB picked up a 4-1-win Friday night over Lawerence Tech and then dropped a game to the host team Sault College 5-0.

4-1 Win over Lawerence Tech

The first period saw no scoring. Lawernce Tech got on the board first with a goal two and a half minutes into the period. In the final two minutes of the period the Jacks were able to tie the game when Macy Wither found the back of the net. Jenna Moormann picked up the assist. McKenna Walls gave DCB the lead just 34 seconds into the third period, Michelle Landsverk and Alexandria Simmions each were credited with an assist. Simmions would score a goal of her own to give the Jacks some insurance, Sara Smith snagged the assist and the Jacks led 3-1. Just before time expired Kylie Lagerquist would score with the assist coming from Kendall Guenther to give the Jacks a 4-1 win. Kara Zelyck had 28 saves in net and picked up the win.

5-0 Loss to Sault College

The Cougars would score one goal in the first period and four goals in the second period to take a 5-0 lead into the final period. Neither team would score in the third and Sault College would defeat the Lumberjacks 5-0.

The Jacks record now sits at 5-7 overall. Next up for DCB is a weekend series on the road against North Dakota State Saturday and Sunday.
