Ladyjacks Hold on for Sweep of NDSU

The Ladyjack Hockey Team took two games from the Bison of NDSU this weekend winning convincingly Saturday 5-2 and holding on for a 2-1 OT victory Sunday.

5-2 Win

Trinity Tanner had a big night Saturday, and she opened the scoring with an unassisted goal to put the Ladyjacks up 1-0 and it remained that way through the remainder of the first period. NDSU evened the game in the second period, but DCB answered right back when Tanner found the back of the net for the second time in the contest off an assist from McKenna Walls. The Ladyjacks scored again in the second period to make the score 3-1, when Michelle Landsverk knocked one past the goalie Karyssa Watson picked up an assist and Walls was credited with her second assist of the game. After two periods DCB led 3-1. The Bison got back within a goal in the third period with a goal of their own. The Ladyjacks responded with another goal from Mary McKay to give them back their two-goal cushion. Jaida Chartrand and Landsverk picked up the assist. Tanner would put the game away with her third goal of the night with the assist coming from Zoe Cupples. DCB would win by the final score of 5-2.  

2-1 OT Win

The Ladyjacks got on the board in the first period when Jaida Chartrand lit the lamp Jayden Carels was credited with the assist. After one period DCB led 1-0. Neither team was able to strike paydirt in the second period so as the teams headed to the locker-room to prepare for the third period the Ladyjacks held on to their 1-0 lead. Late in the third period the Bison were able to even the game at 1-1. Neither team was able to score as time ticked away and we were headed to overtime. In the extra session DCB found themselves on the powerplay and they would capitalize as Jasper Devloo would score the game winner off an assist from Kindal DeGraeve giving the Ladyjacks a 2-1 overtime win.

With the win the Ladyjacks move to 9-5 overall next up for DCB they host top ranked ACC for a pair of games Friday and Saturday. Puck drops are scheduled for 8:00p.m. and noon.
