The Lumberjack Men's Hockey team extended their win streak to eight games to close out the regular season Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over Lake Region State College.
Riley Opperude took advantage of a powerplay opportunity to put the Jacks on the board 6 minutes into the opening period of play. Wyatt Curtis and Jace Thompson assisted. Thompson would stretch the Jacks lead to 2-0 early in the third period off an Opperude assist. DCB would use two more powerplay opportunities to take a 4-0 lead. The first goal came from Logan Mantell, Carter Ralson and Ethan Unger had the assists. Opperude picked up his second goal of game unassisted to close out the scoring for the Jacks. Lake Region got their lone goal of the game halfway through the third period. Rylan Labrie picked up the win in net with 33 saves.
DCB improves to 16-8-2-1. The Jacks were ranked 18th in the latest ACHA West Region rankings and will have to move up to reach the region tournament. The final rankings come out Thursday.
