Jacks Dominate Jimmies in Weekend Sweep

The Lumberjack Men's Hockey team cruised to a weekend sweep of the University of Jamestown by scores of 9-4 and 7-3.

Carter Ralston got the Jacks on the board with a powerplay goal Jace Thompson and Ethan Unger had the assists. DCB added two more goals over the final five minutes to take a 3-0 into the second period. Kayden Cey had the second goal of the game Thompson had his second assist and Nick Cofer also assisted. The final goal of the period came from Dodge Long, Reese Andres and Ralston dished the assists.

The Jimmies scored back-to-back goals to cut the Jacks lead to 3-2. Logan Mantell would push the Jacks lead back to two on a powerplay opportunity Long and Ralston assisted. The Jacks got their lead back to their three goal lead they had entering the period when Long scored for the second time, this time on the powerplay Ralston had the assist. The final goal of the period came with eight seconds remaining in the period. Jeremy Klimchuk gave the Jacks a 6-2 lead to end the period. Alex Lorenz picked up the assist.

Jamestown got back within three goals briefly before Thompson would put them back out in front by four goals Cey and Long assisted. Jamestown added another quick goal to make it 7-4. Two goals by Cey to close out the game to make the final score 9-4. Lorenz and Unger each had an assist. Rylan Labrie had the win in net with 29 saves.

Cofer scored first for the Jacks on a powerplay opportunity Wyatt Curtis and Riley Opperude each had an assist. Just three minutes later Jamestown evened the game at 1-1. The Jacks took full control of the game in the second period to take a 5-1 lead. The first goal came just twenty-nine seconds into the period with the Jacks on the powerplay Jacob Measel found paydirt Operude and Mantell each had an assist. The second goal of the period went to Cey with Kole Fitzpatrick and Thompson being awarded the assists. Cofer had his second of the game and the third of the period, Measel and Cey added an assist to their stat lines. The final goal of the second period came in the final minute. Ralston found the back off the net thanks to assists from Long and Unger.

The Jack lead grew to 6-1 on a powerplay goal early in the third period by Cofer, Cey and Unger had the assists. Jamestown cut into the DCB lead slightly with back-to-back goals. However the lead was too much to overcome and then Long added a shorthanded goal for good measure in the final minute, Measel assisted. Labrie picked up another win in net with 28 saves.

DCB improves to 14-8-2-1 on the season. The Jacks host Williston State College Wednesday in the home finale. Puck drop is set for 7:00p.m.
