After starting the season, 3-6 the Lumberjack men's hockey team has rattled off 5 straight wins to enter the semester break 8-6 and find themselves ranked 19th in the latest West Region rankings. The Jacks returned from a road trip against top ranked team in the West Region Montana State with a goal to finish the semester strong, and that's exactly what they did outscoring their opponent 30-13 over the last five games.
Nick Cofer leads the team in points at the break with 19 including 9 goals, tied for most on the team with Dodge Long. Rylan Labrie has been the constant between the pipes for the Jacks, being credited with all 8 wins and an .890 save percentage.
When the Jacks return from break, they will take on the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota Crookston for a split series Saturday January 11th on the road and Sunday January 12th at home game times are TBD. The Jacks then travel to Colorado for four key West Region matchups The first being against the University of Denver who was ranked 14th in the latest ACHA West Region rankings. Next DCB will take on another set of Lumberjacks in the from of Northern Arizona. NAU was ranked 16th in the latest ranking release. The third game of the road trip will be the only game against an opponent currently not ranked, that being Colorado State. The final game of the Colorado road trip will see the Jacks take on 10th ranked Grand Canyon University. The four Colorado games will play a key role in the Jacks efforts to get into the West Region Tournament.
