Jacks Fall on Opening Weekend

The Lumberjack Men's Hockey team dropped their opening two games of the 2024-25 season to the University of Providence Argos Friday and Saturday by scores of 3-1 and 9-2.

Game One 3-1 loss

Providence got on the board late in the first period with a powerplay goal. Dodge Long evened the game early in the second period Logan Mantell and Kole Fitzpatrick were credited with the assists. The Argos retook the lead with their second powerplay goal of the game. UP would add a third goal in the final minute of the second period to put them up 3-1. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final 20 minutes allowing Providence to pick up the 3-1 win.

Game Two 9-2 loss

The Argos jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first 7 minutes of the game. Jeremy Klimchuk got the Jacks on the board late in the first period to make the score 3-1 Ethan Unger picked up the assist. DCB would carry that momentum into the second period when Long scored his second goal of the weekend while short handed Carter Hildebrand earned the assist. From there, however it was all Providence as the Argos scored 6 unanswered goals to win 9-2.

With the losses DCB falls to 0-2 on the season. The Jacks host NDSU Saturday and Sunday with game times set for 7:00p.m. and 1:00p.m. respectively
