Jacks Swept by Bobcats

The DCB Lumberjacks Hockey team struggled on the road this weekend dropping a pair of games to the Montana State Bobcats. Friday the Jacks fell 4-2 and Saturday the Bobcats completed the sweep by the same score.

In Friday's game the scoring got going right away with the Bobcats scoring quickly to take a 1-0 lead. Ryan Patterson answered back with a shorthanded goal to tie the game. The scoring wasn't done in the period as Montana State scored to retake the lead at 2-1. The fourth and final goal of the period was scored when Fabian Vik found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2. Riley Rybchinski and Tyson Pringle were credited with the assists. The Bobcats added a goal in the second period to take a 3-2 lead and added a fourth goal in the third to seal the victory by a score of 4-2. Montana State outshot DCB 47-24 in the contest.

In Saturday's game Montana State got things going early again scoring three unanswered goals to take a 3-0 lead after the first period. Ryan Patterson got the Jacks on the board in the second period with his second goal of the weekend, Fabian Vik was credited with the assist. The Bobcats added a goal early in the third, and DCB answered with a goal by Leighton Holstein but were ultimately unable to overcome the deficit falling by a final score of 4-2.

Here is what coach Travis Rybchinski had to say about the weekend. "It was a tough weekend as we suffered two losses and some more injuries, but the guys played hard and never gave up." With the losses the Jacks fall to 3-4-0-2 on the season.
