With only two players returning from last years roster the fans in "The Woodshed" will see many new faces on the floor. One of the players returning is Loukas Triantis who averaged 8.8 points per game and shot 35% from beyond the arc and 47% from the field. The other player that returns for another season is Woodson Baptiste who averaged 3.0 points per game and shot 48% from the field. The Lumberjacks will be a larger team than last year with the goal of helping their inside presence. DCB will have six players on the roster 6'5" or taller.
The Jacks will be busy their first week with a road game against Turtle Mountain Community College on Tuesday November 1st in Belcourt with game time set for 8:00p.m. Just three days later DCB will get an opportunity to see how they match up in the Mon-Dak when they take part in the Buster Gilliss Tip-Off Basketball Tournament in New Town, where they will face three conference opponents in three days. The Jacks will play Dawson Community College in the first round of the tournament with tip-off scheduled for approximately 8:45p.m. Stay tuned to DCB Athletics social media channels in the coming days for possible live stream links for these games.
Here is what second year head coach Karl Sorby had to say about his squad before the season gets underway. "Naturally we are excited for November 1st. This group has been working hard to prepare for the season ahead, and we know that first week of games is going to be a gauntlet. Fans will notice a lot of new faces this year, but that is a consistent theme across the Mon-Dak this year. We will have our ups and downs as we go through the growing pains that a young team goes through, but I am thankful that we have good leadership in Loukas & Woodson to guide these young guys through a college basketball season. The best thing this team has going for it is that they are bought into the program & bought into each other. They want to be around each other on and off the court. That will keep us together as we learn and grow throughout the season. I think fans will enjoy watching this team compete as they play hard!"
