Valerie Rivera started working at Dakota College in April of 2020 as the Academic Support Coordinator and Women’s Volleyball Coach. Prior to DCB, Rivera was the Women’s Volleyball Coach at NWC in 2019. Rivera and the Trappers had a 5-22 season in the Division I Region IX of the NJCAA. Rivera coached two All-Region players at the helm; Eirini Matsouka and Mollee Krum.

Before NWC, Rivera was the graduate assistant at William Penn University for the women’s volleyball team. At Penn, Rivera was a part of a team that went 19-15 for the 2018 season and helped coach two All-Conference team members: Corrin Lepper and Jordan Carter.

A 2017 graduate of Waldorf College with a degree in history, Rivera tallied 1,385 assists which rank third all-time. She is also ranked seventh in career aces.

Prior to attending Waldorf, she completed two years at Chaffey CC (Calif.), collecting All-Conference laurels both seasons. While at Chaffey, she finished with 865 assists and also guided her squad to a pair of league titles.

Rivera holds a B.A. in History from Waldorf University and a Master’s in Business Leadership from William Penn University. She shares a daughter with Coach Loucks.
