Lumberjacks See Their Season End

Lumberjacks See Their Season End

The Lumberjack Volleyball team saw their season come to an end Sunday morning with a 3-0 loss to North Dakota State College of Science in the first round of Sub Region Tournament play.

The Wildcats built an early seven-point lead at 11-4. A 5-0 DCB run would cut the NDSCS lead to two at 11-9 and force the Wildcats to take a timeout. The Wildcats came out of the timeout and scored two quick points pushing their lead back to four at 13-9. The Jacks would again find themselves in a deep hole again trailing 18-12. However, DCB didn't go quietly as the Jacks slowly worked themselves back into contention for a set win. DCB got themselves back to within one on three occasions, but it would not be enough as the Wildcats would take set one 25-23.

The teams traded points back and forth early with the Wildcats holding a one-point advantage at 4-3. A 6-0 NDSCS run would push their lead to seven at 10-3 and force a DCB timeout. The timeout was not able to stop the Wildcat momentum as their run pushed to 8-0. The Jacks were able to string a few points together late, but the deficit was to much as NDCS took set two 25-11.

NDSCS kept their momentum going in set three with a quick 7-2 start. The Wildcats then pushed their lead to 11-4 and the Jacks took their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout the Jacks found themselves on the wrong side of an 8-2 run and trailing 19-6 in the set used their final timeout of the set. Out of the timeout DCB was able to put an end to the long NDSCS run with two quick points. In the end the top seeded Wildcats would be to much taking the set and the match 25-12. DCB finishes the season 0-22.
