Lumberjacks Drop Match to Mystics

The Bismarck State College Mystics completed the season sweep of the DCB Lumberjacks Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory.

Set one was very back and forth early on, as the set progressed the Mystics were able to build a 14-9 lead. DCB would call a timeout to try and regroup. Out of the timeout BSC would score two more quick points to get the lead to 17-9. The Jacks would respond with a 7-0 run to bring them within one point of the Mystics at 17-16. BSC would go on a 5-1 run of their own to push the lead back up to five at 22-17. The Jacks would use their final timeout of the set to attempt to get a rally going. It was not to be however as the Mystics took set one 25-18.

The Mystics continued their momentum as the teams headed into the second set with a 5-0 run to start. BSC would double up DCB at 12-6 and the Jacks would call a timeout to attempt to slow the Mystic's momentum. The timeout failed to slow down BSC as they pushed their lead to 21-12 over the Lumberjacks. At this point DCB would call their final timeout of the set to try and make a late run. The run would not come and BSC took a 2-0 set advantage by a score of 25-15.

The Lumberjacks struggled to get out of the blocks in set three as the Mystics started on a 5-0 run. Moments later it was 8-2 BSC and DCB was calling a timeout. Out of the timeout the Mystics went on a 5-0 run to make the score 13-2, and DCB would use their final timeout of the set. The Jacks could never get things going their way and would fall in the set and drop the match by a score of 25-9.

With the loss the Lumberjacks fall to 0-10 overall and 0-7 inside Mon-Dak Conference play. Next up for DCB they host the University of Jamestown for an exhibition match Tuesday night at home. The first serve is set for 7:00p.m.
