Jacks Drop Conference Match to Wildcats

The Lumberjack Volleyball team played well in spurts Tuesday night but were unable to put a full set together getting swept by the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats 3-0.

The Wildcats doubled up the Jacks early in set one at 8-4. As the set progressed the Jacks had some strong volleys and were able to capitalize on some Wildcat errors. However, NDSCS was able to keep DCB at arm length and ended up winning the set by double figures at 25-14.

The Lumberjacks took an early 6-3 lead in set two thanks to some strong play from DCB. Things went south after that as NDSCS went on an 8-0 run to take an 11-6 lead and force a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout the Jacks were briefly able to stop the Wildcat run by breaking their cold streak with two quick points. In all the Wildcat run ended up being an 18-3 run making the score 21-9. DCB attempted to make a late set rally with a 4-0 run of their own causing the Wildcats to take a quick timeout. After the timeout the Jacks were able to push the run to 6-0 making the score 21-15 NDSCS. That's as close as the Jacks would get falling in set two 25-17.

Set three saw the teams trade points back and forth early on with neither team able to get the upper hand. It was a 5-0 run that gave the Wildcats control of the set and a 10-5 lead. NDSCS was able to push their lead to 15-8 and force DCB to use a timeout. Coming out of the time NDSCS was able to extend their lead to 18-9. The Jacks made an attempt at a late run but it was not to be as the Wildcats would win the set and the match 25-18.

With the loss DCB falls to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the Mon-Dak. Next up for the Jacks they hit the road for a pair of games in Montana Tuesday and Wednesday against conference foe Miles and Dawson. Game times are set for 8:00p.m. (CST) and 7:00p.m (CST).
