Jimmies Take Two from Lumberjacks

The Lumberjack Volleyball Team dropped a pair of games Sunday afternoon to the University of Jamestown JV teams both 3-0.

Game One 3-0

The first set of the day saw the teams trade points early. The Jimmies were able to break the set open with an 8-1 run making the score 17-8 Jamestown and forcing a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout the Lumberjacks were unable to slow the Jimmie offense and UJ went on to win the set 25-10.

Just like in set one the teams went back and forth early on. Jamestown went on a 7-2 run to give them a 12-7 lead. The Jacks were able to respond with a mini 3-0 run of their own to get the deficit back down to two at 12-10. However after that the Jimmies took over with a 13-2 run to win the set 25-12.

The Jimmie offense continued to ride the wave of momentum with a 4-0 start in set three. The Lumberjacks struggled to get in sync as Jamestown continued to build their lead to 13-6 forcing a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout UJ went on a 4-0 run forcing DCB to use their final timeout of the set. After the timeout the Jacks still had no answer for Jamestown's offense as the Jimmies would pick up the set and the match with a 25-12 victory.

Game Two 3-0

The first set of game two saw the Jimmies start hot with a 12-2 run. The Jacks couldn't get anything going offensively and the Jimmies cruised to a 25-12 win in set one.

The Jacks came to life in set two with a 4-0 run to start the game. As the set progressed DCB was able to keep UJ at arm's length eventually stretching their lead to 17-10. The Jimmies didn't go away as they went on a 6-2 run to make the score 19-16. DCB would call a timeout to try and slow the UJ momentum. Out of the timeout the Jimmies were able to cut the lead to one at 19-18. The Jacks got one point back to give them a two point lead at 20-18. The Jimmies went on a 4-0 run to give them their first lead of the set at 22-20. The Jimmies held on to win the set 25-21.

Set three saw the Jimmies slowly build a lead as the set progressed eventually doubling up the Lumberjacks at 16-8. DCB would call a timeout hoping to make a late surge. The surge would not come as the Jimmies continued to build their lead winning the set and the match 25-11.

With the loss DCB falls to 0-3 overall. Next up for the Lumberjacks a home Mon-Dak contest against Bismarck State College Wednesday night. Match time set for 7:00p.m.
